## Application

You should be able to (before entering the course):

By completing this course, you will be able to do some/all of the following:

- complete geometry (esp. proofs, theorems, and formulas)
- complete Algebra I (functions, variables, systems, factoring...)

By completing this course, you will be able to do some/all of the following:

- trigonometry, completing the square, factoring... (pre-calc)
- ^^^, conics, solving systems, graphing... (calc AB
*and*BC)

## Organization/Materials/Reminders

Maintain a good work ethic.

I have transitioned through many textbooks and teachers.

I don't care what calculator you use as long as you know how to use it and don't abuse it on test day.

- Organize your materials and your schedule. You should know your schedule well ahead of time so you are not behind on assignments or lessons.
- There is a class set of textbooks, but do not use this to your advantage.

I have transitioned through many textbooks and teachers.

- I started in double accel - pre-calc accel - using the textbook
*Precalculus with Limits* - Then I "dropped" to algebra 2 accel - using the textbook
*Algebra and Trigonometry*(with strange word problems) - And then I "plummeted" to algebra 2 semester 2 using APEX, an online credit recovery thing.
- Teachers? Brackenridge, Pletz, and Wendel... yup.

I don't care what calculator you use as long as you know how to use it and don't abuse it on test day.

## Grading Policy/Homework System/Assessment Frequency

This class is weighted, if you are at accelerated.

On APEX...

- So yes, your grade will drop dramatically if you fail a test; if you get 100% on your homework, your grade might go up by 1% (at the most).
- Homework checks and chapter tests are usually on the same day.
- Quizzes will (sometimes) be announced, and are what has recently been covered (but not as extensively as a test).
- Occasionally, you will be able to work with a partner on a quiz. And yes, it will boost your grade--choose your partner wisely!

On APEX...

- Your grade is on a point scale--nothing is weighted.
- So, if you get a 65% on a test, but 100% on a classwork, it is to your advantage because your final grade is out of all your assignments.
- I think I ended up getting a B or a C? So I passed. The semester 2 exam was the real toughie.
